Week of "October 9

Homework:

Spelling - Students will have 2 weeks to complete their spelling sentences (due Oct. 18). The quiz will be on Friday, Oct. 18.

Math  - Worksheet - students will select 5 cities in South America and find the population of each city. They will answer the questions and order the populations. This is due Thursday!

Reading - always read at least 25 minutes per night

Congratulations to Table 4 for winning last week's table points!  As a prize, they elected to bring in big stuffed animals.

Don't forget....Thursday, September 27th is our Open House.  It begins at 7:00.  I'm looking forward to meeting everyone!

Update

This week we had some extra excitement as we learned about the new Spanish language program. Also, we had "picture day!"  Of course everyone looked lovely.

We are finally getting used to our classroom routines and we are learning lots of interesting information:

Reader's Workshop - Students are working on establishing routines and building stamina.
Math - Students are investigating strategies for addition by using the workshop model and planning an "art show."
Social Studies - We learned about maps and landforms.  Next week we will begin our first project on South America!
Writing - We are starting our first personal narrative piece.  Yesterday we had some fun discussing different ways to show words "show don't tell." I'll up load some fun pictures soon.

Slowly, additional homework is being introduced.  Mind you, it is VERY important for students to read every night, and reading is considered homework too. So please make sure your child makes time to read.

A New Year!

 

We had our first day of school today!  Of course it entailed a lot of new information, but students will be familiar with the new routines soon.
