Book Fair

I went to this book sale last year and it was great!  If you're free this weekend, check it out.

 COME GET BOOKS!

As the weather cools, think about curling up with a good book (or ten)!  The Friends of the Byram Shubert Library, a branch of Greenwich Library, will be holding its popular Book & Media Sale inside St. Paul's Lutheran Church, next to 55 William Street West, on October 16-17, 2010.

This sale includes a guesstimated 12,000 books, CDs, DVDs, videos, vinyl, and audiobooks, including loads of brand new items, as well as some antiques.  You will find a wide selection of goodies, including fiction, nonfiction, TONS of incredible children's books, an enormous collection of comic books, thousands of music CDs, and other surprises!

For first picks, come to a special preview sale on Friday, October 15 from 5:30-8:30 pm.  For $15, you can attend the preview and get the best selection - it’s well worth the entrance fee!  On Saturday, October 16 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm the sale is open to all.  On Sunday, October 17 from 12:00 to 4:00 pm will be the bargain hunter’s delight “bag and box” sale ($3/bag or $5/box).

All proceeds from the sale benefit the branch library's programs and events.  For specific questions, please contact the Byram Shubert Library at (203) 531-0426.

The Garbage Museum

On Friday we had a terrific visit to the Garbage Museum in Stratford.  We learned all about the importance of recycling and saw some amazing creations made from recycled products.

October 2010

It's October and we have lots of exciting things happening in 3rd grade!  On Friday, October 8 we have our first field trip to the Garbage Museum.  This will be especially exciting because we've been studying recycling and helping Mrs. Ekey's class collect bottle caps (300 pounds is the goal this year).  In addition, students are thinking about numerous  ways to reuse garbage to make their Trash Treasures.  Can't wait to see all the fabulous creations!
