First of all, we celebrated this beautiful day by writing some Haiku poems outside!  I will upload pictures shortly.

A lot of great things are happening this week. This morning, teachers from Darien HS conducted  a program and students made rockets!  We are doing last-minute practice from our folktale presentations.  As you may have heard, students are acting out African folktales - they are so clever as they are incorporating instruments into their skits.  Tomorrow we are having an author visit!  We continue to read mysteries, learn about multiplication, and write poetry too.  Don't forget, Friday is our Spring party.

Homework:

No Work Study this week
Math - DreamBox for 20 minutes tonight
Math - packet due on April 11th
start practicing x4 facts - no quiz until after vacation
Read - 25 minutes

Enjoy this nice, warm day!

Math -  multiplication packet due April 11
x3 quiz on Friday (start studying x4 too)

Read - 25 minutes at night as always
*****don't forget to log-on to Dreambox and practice some math (the link is on the right side of this blog)

Scholastic Book orders are due April 5th.
Library will be on Friday this week.

This week we are starting a new unit on Mysteries. Students will participate in book clubs and read and discuss books within the same series. In writing, we are continuing to study and write poetry.  Students are learning about multiplication now. In addition to understanding multiplication concepts such as "groups of," "repeated addition," and "turn around facts," students are being encouraged to study their math facts.  Last week's x-2 mad minute was a huge success for most!  In social studies, students are enjoying learning about Africa and they are preparing to perform their folktales to younger students.  This week we will also see Gabby's pictures from her safari trip.  Lastly, on Friday we will attend a Music for Youth programme.
