Non-Fiction

This month is full of projects!  Of course today we're starting to present our European country PowerPoints.  We can't wait to share these exciting projects with the parents. But students are also going mad for their non-fiction projects (on various topics)!!!  See them working diligently.

Bruce Museum

Yesterday we had a wonderful field trip to the Bruce Museum.  Students learned about Rocks & Minerals as well as Habitats.  In addition, we were lucky enough to view beautiful illustrations from the book, Snow Day.  What a treat.

Happy Monday!   This week will be very exciting for many reasons.  Tomorrow we are going to the Bruce Museum to learn about Rocks & Minerals and Habitits.  Also, we will start our PowerPoint presentations on Thursday.

Please note that there will be no Work Study this week.

For homework tonight, students should explore the website below:

Hello Ollie

Great news....Ollie, our Elf on the Shelf is back! He will be carefully watching boys and girls throughout the month of December. He's a tricky fellow so watch out!

The month of December will be very busy. This week we started our Powerpoints on European countries.  After a lot of computer glitches we finally managed to set up the projects and we began working.  What fun!  In reading, we are continuing our non-fiction unit and the students are either working individually or with partners to explore specific topics.  Today we started our second personal narratives in writing and the students are brainstorming interesting seed ideas.  Lastly, in math we are still working on Topic 11 - Exploring 4 digit numbers.

Don't forget, next Tuesday, Dec. 11 we are going to the Bruce Museum to learn all about Rocks & Minerals.  Please send a check for $7.48 if you haven't done so yet.

Rice & Beans

We had a special treat on Friday.  Abraham brought some delicious Colombian food to share with the class - rice, beans, beef, plantains, and pork. We loved it!

Although we thought life was getting back to normal after Hurricane Sandy, along came Athena! However, this didn't stop us from celebrating Halloween and sharing our South America projects.  Let's hope next week brings some normalcy.
